Hello MOON-day! Another turbulent week has passed on planet Earth and unfortunately not all was great. Luckily there´s art, and like Louise Bourgeois said: “Art is a guaranty of sanity”. Maybe that is why we add art even to the space travellers´ luggage… following are my favorite finds online from last week👇
☝️ As informed by artnet.com Tristan Eaton, an American street artist and designer, prepared series of artworks that traveled to space this Saturday, 30th of May onboard of Crew Dragon by SpaceX. The ndestructible, two-sided gold, brass, and aluminum artworks will stay at the International Space Station.
☝️While Camden Arts Center brings widely informative online exhibition “The Botanical Mind: ART, Mysticism and The Cosmic Tree” with artworks from all periods of time including some by Hildegarde von Bingen, illustrations from the mysterious Voynich Manuscript, drawings from C.G.Jung´s Red Book and numerous creations by contemporary artists – just don´t forget to click on all the links!
☝️My personal discovery this week was a couple of 20th century photographers Palmira Puig and Marcel Giró who moved from Europe to Brazil during the WWII and were part of the Paulista School of photography in the 1960s. Fundació Villa Casas in Barcelona is currently showing their exhibition online.
Thanks to the article in ARTnews I remembered about the exhibition dedicated to Sophie Taeuber-Arp that was supposed to open in Moma this June. While the opening dates for the museums are still not clear this year, I am leaving a few links where you can refresh your knowledge about this Dadaist artist.
This is my constantly morphing grimoire that can awaken or feed your curiosity through my personal selection of art, books, music, and wunderkammer.
Due to the current public health situation, some of the exhibitions are still closed. We will be updating the list as soon as the galleries and museums start reopening.
