Fashion is an important part of my life. During over the thirty years of my professional experience as a fashion designer, art director and illustrator for international magazine together with teaching fashion at the university and academy, I always like to remember my artworks and fashion performances where I had the freedom to express my self through fashion as art and not as a product. Enjoy the gallery.
Artworks titled “The Miserable Life of Coffee-Filter Head”. Six double pages commissioned by “Ninja Mag”, Paris 2008. The artworks answer the editor´s question: “Is there life after youth?”
Conceptual fashion performance “I Love You, Darling” presented at Alta Roma, 2007.
From carved plaster phallic shaped sculptures inspired by Ancient Rome all the way to pleasure objects by the English artist Shiri Zinn. Phallus as a magic symbol, a metaphor of the social male domination transfigured into the manifest of female independence.
A tiny “peplo” draped in Prince of Wales checked wool with crystal applications is worn over the raw cut lycra pants. A maxi “Eagles” t-shirt encrusted in multicolored Swarovski crystals echoes Byzantine mosaics, its shoulders are enlarged to redesign the silhouette into a sartorial tuxedo shape, same as the following oversize t-shirt that reads “Fake Blond” on it.
There is also a micro tulle dress matched with a precious hand embroidered Japanese obi, black elbow length gloves in latex or white ones in leather.
Fashion installation “Act #I” presented in Rome Fashion Week 2006. The essence of this vision of fashion dwells in the necessity of expressing the diverse facets of the feminine heart and mind.
“Act #I” tells the story of a woman who knows about life. Her face is scaly, her skin is coming away, burned by an existence that leaves evident scar tissue. She struggles across a landscape, almost lunar, rich in symbols, fetuses, nails, worms and much other mystical and profane, encountering obstacles and impediments.
She survives her pilgrimage, her soul renewed, viscerally cleansed, to find herself possessing nothing but her skeleton. The pain has eroded her like lava, leaving deep furrows. She is a woman who has fallen, but she has arisen more combative and sure of herself than ever.
The pieces featuring this performance are without a designated season. They are made from men’s shirt fabric that has been “soiled” by elements in rough-cut leather, vinyl, chamois, technical fabrics and metal mesh.
The Codex: the chosen color is total black, broken up by dribbles of white, red, silver and embroidered suture stitches. Jute encrusted with strokes and streaks of color covers faces of the combat girls.
The forms and volumes are constructed from elastics that define and conform to the lines of the body, from raw edges and the layering of pockets, fabrics, ruffles and drawstrings.
A fashion project “Free Delivery for your Brain” – pieces in limited and one-of-a-kind editions. Sold in selected concept stores as “Corso Como 10” in Milan, Italy 2002-2007.
Artworks titeled “Rooms”, for R360 Magazine 2005. Six double pages.
Written and directed the digital animation video “It´s Snowing”, produced by Wichy Hassan to inaugurate the art section of “WTV” for the fashion brand “Energie”. Rome, 2005.
